Japanese gaming portal Quiter found out that Nintendo has registered a few new trademarks in Japan. First of all, Nintendo registered 'PCGP'. Quiter already found out that these four letters stand for 'Pokemon Card Game Players'. The second trademark is more mysterious for the time being. Apparently Nintendo also registered the following: We have no idea of what the V-Pocket trademark is for yet, but we'll keep you informed if we receive any information. http://gba.n64europe.com/index.php?id=3197

With the name "V-Pocket", Nintendo could be talking about a handheld companion to the N5(V = 5). There's my incoherent ramble. :)

Quote: Back in December 2004, Nintendo of Japan registered a new trademark in Japan: the V-Pocket. Nintendo hasn't officially commented yet on the registration, but various rumours are floating on the worldwide web already. First of all, the V-Pocket is said to be the name of the Play Chan, Nintendo's own media player for the GameBoy Advance and Nintendo DS. However, the trademark was registered shortly before the official announcement of the Play Chan, which doesn't make much sense. Other sources claimed that V-Pocket would be the name of the Play Chan to be used in the United States. The sources could not explain the registration in Japan instead of the US. Again, we think of this as bogus. The next rumour came from Japan. Since the font used for the trademark happens to be the very same as the official Nintendo DS logo uses, the link with the dualscreen was easily made. The V could stand for Voice, implying that Nintendo is working on some kind of voice add-on for the Nintendo DS. Voice over IP perhaps? The third kind of rumours are on about Nintendo's recently acquired license on some Palm OS software, as featured on PDAs. According to these rumours, Nintendo is planning to release a PDA-like application pack for the Nintendo DS. Finally, there's one more story that recently reached our ears. V-Pocket could be the name used for the vending-machines that will be used in Japanese gamestores to download demos from to the Nintendo DS. What Nintendo really has in store for us, we don't know. But as soon as we find out, you'll hear it from us.

Quote: Nintendo had recently licensed Palm OS based PDA software without any details on why they had done it. Nintendo sources have now revealed that the V-Pocket patent filed by Nintendo a few days ago concerns this licensing. E3 2005 will be the first witness of the Nintendo V-Pocket suite: a complete line of personal organizer tools for the Nintendo DS. Nintendo believes PDA software coupled with the already existing touch screen of the DS will put it above its high profiled rival, the PSP. Hmmmm

Yea. Which begs the question how much memory storage is on board the DS? I mean how are we meant to download Demo's. Will nintendo sell blank carts or what?

Another interesting thing to find out would be whether each time you play multiplayer where you don't have the actual game, do you need to download the game file each and everytime. I wonder if the DS is capable of storing a couple... :huh:
