I bought an n64 a few weeks back with ocarina of time. Figured I had to play it seeing as all the others were great. Forgive me if I'm years behind all you guys. I have to say I'm a little dissapointed with it. It's got lots of good bits and features I really like, but the main part of the game, the dungeons, are just a chore. They aren't very exciting, and the puzzles aren't fun to figure out, they just involve getting the next weapon that you find somewhere in the dungeon and then use it to open a new door or get to a part you couldn't get to before.

It just seems to have nowhere near the substance that link to the past or links awakening had.

Keep in mind that I haven't played all the way through yet, so maybe it gets a bit less monotonous, I don't know.

What do you guys think? That is if you can remember that long ago :charmed:

Edit: Just read this on wikipedia, so I guess not many people are going to agree with me :-(

After another hiatus, the series made the transition to 3D with the fifth (official and international) installment, Ocarina of Time. This game, initially known as Zelda 64, retained the core gameplay of the previous games and was very successful both commercially and critically. It is considered by some to be the best game ever made, and scored perfect 10s in several video game publications, as well as the first 40/40 score in Famitsu (a prestigious Japanese gaming magazine). It recently was rated the best Nintendo game out of the best 200 by Nintendo Power.

Ocarina is a break through because it was taking Zelda into the 3D realm for the very first time. And it passed with flying colours.

うるさい!!!
I personally haven't played the entire thing myself but the stuff i did get through I liked. I'm extremely eager to get this on the virtual console for the Wii to finish it off. It's the only game in history to score perfect 10 from a variety of critiques.

I really like the way they implemented the 3d-ness, but still reckon giving it a 10 is just grandstanding. There's no way it's that good.
