This might be a touch off topic, but I'm watching my Soniq QSP500T 50" plasma. I was wondering if anyone else has this brand, and if they have any issues with the sound. It's mostly alright, but there isn't any audio outputs to hook it up to surround sound, and the sound crackles every now and again which is annoying me. The way that the speakers connect to the tv is like how it used to be on old stereos with the spring loaded clip and the exposed end of the speaker wire that you just stick into it. Any thoughts on how I could possibly fix this would be appreciated.

How are the wire ends? They should be clean and shiny. Also they should be twisted around with your finger so they're stiff and straight. Make sure the red is in the red and the black is in the black.

If you still get crackles it's likely dodgy speakers. Does it get better or worse depending on volume?

If it is dodgy speakers you could go down to dick smith and pick up a pair of their cheap speakers which use the wires. They don't sound too bad, and should be suitable for TV.

The wire ends are clean and shiny, looks like they've been twisted so that they're taut and straight then covered in solder. All reds and blacks are good. The crackling is intermittant. I could be watching a movie for an hour, then it'll crackle for 10 minutes, then it'll disappear. It's a hassle. Volume doesn't seem to make a difference, like it doesn't make it crackle, but when it is crackling it obviously gets louder with an increase in volume. If it gets more frequent and worse, I'll try switching the speakers out with some speakers I've already got with the wire ends. I have a Soniq stereo with the same speaker setup and there's no issue with that. I thought it might have been dust or something getting in and interfering with the current, but when it's crackling and I reattach the wires it doesn't always make a difference. My housemate doesn't notice it, or at least it doesn't annoy him, it might be different for me cause I've paid money for it though, lol. I'll see how it goes, thanks Ingram.

It could also be interference from the house/neighbors. The speakers might be poorly shielded, so I'm thinking a wifi connection, wireless phone. Someone who microwaves popcorn a lot :P

All possibilities... possibly :P

We do have a wireless network. The wii is pretty much right under the speakers, along with the 360, dvd/vcr, foxtel, ps2 and an av transmitter. Could just be electrical interference. It's been alright today for the most part.

Just watched the season finale of True Blood. Was a pretty good ep, pissed off at the last scene though. Jerkish way to end a season.

Ditto. IMO, after a slowish start the series gradually got better. Still can't stand the opening credit sequence though.

Yeah, it's long, boring and has nothing to do with the series as a whole. Would prefer they use a short title flash like Supernatural or Heroes. Though Dexter's on the other hand I can stand watching every time, heh.

Watched True Blood 109. Wasn't a great ep, will eventually finish the season off shortly.
