Got done watching Dexter 309 earlier today.

Definitely looking forward to seeing where it goes. Not looking forward to waiting another year (presumably) for a new season.

WHY SO SERIOUS!
Got one more episode of True Blood left to finish the season. Episode 11 just established to me the main reason I watch the show is because of Tara. I think sookie is quite an annoying character.

I've started season 4 of The Shield. This is an absolutely awesome show with a tonne of likable characters that, besides Tara, can't be said the same for True Blood.

Sookie started awesome, then turned into a whiney douche.

She has no comedy relief whatsoever. The story revolves around her, but she just takes it all in without contributing anything to anyone. So she's become a princess-type character amongst other more-rounded examples.

I think part of the problem with the series is that it's really had no direction the whole way through. One ep you get some vampire politics, another some murders and then there's lots of general tension. But the show isn't sure which character/group of characters it wants to follow so any developments (plot/character etc) are pretty shallow.

Having said all that, it's not a bad show. What's annoying is that there is lots of potential there that looks like it either won't be chased up or will take the long and slow (ie boring) road.

100% agree on the untapped potential. TBH, I'm interested in seeing the vampire politics. They made a big deal about the thing that Bill did wrong saying something about this being a crucial moment in Vampire history etc. etc... I wanna see more about that.

Oh, and ditch the (predictably) annoying bitch Bill had to turn, she's nearly as annoying as Sookie and arguably more shallow a character.

And as you said, the ending wasn't so great. It was a very traditional book ending, with the whole 2 weeks later sort of thing. Personally, I kinda dislike that kind of ending in books anyway - it's a lazy way to update you on the characters without leaving anything to the reader. It adds some closure, but what it really comes down to is the author pandering to the desires of the readers to know what happened next without going to the effort to write anything of consequence.

It's less used in television and I can only imagine it was used here because the series is taken from books. Personally, I would only like to see it being used at the very end of the show - using it when there is at least one more season coming is almost insulting to the audience. There are better ways to give a taste for things to come, but given the lack of direction for the show I guess it's not too surprising.

Maybe the show is too closely based on the books? Can't say I've even heard of them before, let alone read them.

That's quite possible. Damn, hope the industry doesn't start using it as a text book example of why you DON'T follow source material closely :P

The finale was lacking.

Tara is the shining light of the show, I hope she has some interesting things ahead for us.

I caught up with my huge backlog of Heroes S3 episodes. They don't really deserve my full attention so I had them playing while working on a little side project. They provided good background noise as opposed to infomercials during the early AM hours.

I'm currently just getting into Season 4 of the shield. I am loving this show.

I was gonna mention that thing you mentioned Ingram. That particular character was awesome, and the show is gonna suck a little bit more for his/her loss.

Heroes has gone depressingly bad. It's still pretty good viewing, but damn has it fallen hard. Supernatural is pretty awesome on the other hand. It actually pays attention to stuff that's happened before and doesn't contradict it.

Getting Dexter 310 now. Looking forward to it and the last two eps of the season, not looking forward to waiting just under a year for season 4.
