Sometimes it seems like we spend more time talking about games and their release, reviews and stuff than we do actually playing them. So what are you playing at the moment? And where are you up to? What's frustrating or exciting you? Just a general warning that this thread might contain game spoilers and whatnot. Today I played a bit of LOTR: The Third Age on the GC. At the moment I'm in the middle of the Helm's Deep battle. It's a decent game, RPG with turn based combat. It's also dead easy... except for the bits where it's incredibly hard. I did four battles in a row and won them all easily, even againt the cave trolls. (I know... Cave trolls at Helm's Deep? This game is a very liberal interpretation of the movies). Then right at the start of the fifth battle I rolled some awful misses and the enemy rolled some double criticals and I got dieded. And with no option to save between battles I'll have to start from the beginning again. *sigh* I did develop a nice strategy for the major battles. The computer (er, console?) throws 3 Uruk-Hai at you at the same time, and when you kill one it gets replaced by another, and then another, until you've killed your allotment of bad guys. But get your ranger to fire sleep arrows at them and you'll knock some of them out. At one stage I had two of the enemy asleep and I was just getting Aragorn to smite the one awake Uruk with his sexy master move which kills them in one turn. Woot. |

Sometimes I think I was born backwards
|
Oooo, that LotR game sounds pretty neat the way you describe it. Must see if I can find it for rental somewhere... Anyways, I'm in the middle of the following: FF10-2 (PS2): I'm up to the last chapter near the end of the game. This is my first play through but I'm trying to get 100% for the best ending. I haven't played it in months though, since I did some house sitting for my sister, so yeah... gotta get back to that sometime. Xenosaga episode 2: I think I'm up to the second or third last dungeon. Same thing again, got derailed when something new came along and never got back to it. When I get episode 3 soon I'll probaly restart 2 (and possibly replay 1). Star Ocean 3: I'm up to like the third world or something. I actually got spoiled on this game, which is why I stopped playing it - to forget the spoiler. But now that I remembered why I stopped playing it, I remembered the spoiler! D'oh! Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistance: I started playing this as soon as I got it to try out the third person camera. Problem is, I already played the third so I was distracted VERY easily. It's still sitting on the PS2 with the other 4 games I mentioned, waiting to be played. I'll get to it... PN.03 (GC): Dunno how far I'm from finishing this game, but I played a good 5+ hours of it before I got distracted (seeing a pattern here?). That was a good 2 years ago I reckon, I'm not gonna bother restarting since it's not story heavy, just gonna press on when I get back to it. Super Princess Peach: Up to world 2, decided to finish NSMB before I play on. Ouendan: Up to the second last tier in Magnificent. I'm easily distracted by other things, so I only really make much progress in this game at Acerlyte's place. Advance Wars DS: I'm up to Mission 24. Got distracted by Ouendan.... There's others, but that's all I can think of right now. |

I usually only play PC games, lately I've been playing GTA San Andreas and Flatout 2. In San Andreas, the game file I'm using is 100%, so really I'm just driving around and doing things like shooting at cars and seeing them drive like maniacs or blowing up cars with rocket launchers, I seem to find that a lot of fun :O Flatout 2 I get frustrated with because the "characters" in the game are such demolition derby-obsessed bogans. I know that's mainly the point in the series, but even in a race they slam into you and send you spinning, they just get so annoying so easily. |

I've been playing too much GTA: Vice City [PC] lately. I don't know what it is about this game that just draws me in. Best in the series IMO and i have SA and 3. Maybe it's because it's more colourful then the otherones? I don't know. It had decent single. Motorbikes + Easter Eggs = fun. |

Bloody hell, Demaar. I never want to see you in a room full of shiny objects.
:P I've also been playing through the scenarios in Zoo Tycoon 2, which I haven't completed even though I've had the game a few years. There's this one scenario where you have to breed two generations of animals from a founding pair for three different species. Trouble is, the expansion packs introduced a family tree system which doesn't allow close relatives to breed... making the scenario completely unwinnable, and can't move on to the next ones. *grr* Now I'll be forced to cheat, which I really don't like doing. |

I only consider myself currently playing a game if I've picked it up reasonably recently, otherwise I'd have to list most of my titles, because I do come back to them every now and then. Interestingly enough, the one game that I'm playing regularly at the moment is ac:ww (watch Ingram flee from the room :P). I'm not sure how much longer this regular playing will last as my attention span has a tendency to waver, especially if distracted by new and exciting games. I've also played a bit of tetris lately and occasionally pick up mario kart for some wi-fi play. MK is kinda said really, as I can be bothered playing the single player mode through to unlock everything and get a three star rating. *adds* Arr, me hearties, now thar's a poor excuse fora sea lass  |

Company of Heroes - I'm about 10 missions into the campaign. Still has me enthralled, having the characters dropping the f word all the time is quite refreshing
:) Sniper elite - I'd say I'm about halfway through this game, I play a mission every now and then. HOMM V - Up the the last mission in ranger set. Pretty much stuck there because the guy I have to kill has 900 black dragons which is nigh on impossible to defeat without waiting around for a few months to build up troops and I really can't be bothered. F.E.A.R combat - Jump on a server every now and then when I feel the FPS urge. FF I & II GBA - Just finished the extra bit after the regular end of FFII. Was quite a nice little addition and definitely justified buying the game again. |
