OK, figured instead of having like a hojillion 5 post threads, why not have one 5 hojillion post thread? So here it is! Kinda like the Virtual Console new release thread, when a new title is announced or released it'll be posted about here (assuming it's noteworthy) :D

Ikaruga is a vertical shooter from Treasure (the creators of Gunstar Heroes and a bunch of other old school gems). No word on when it'll be hitting XBLA, but it's up on partner net, apparently.

Treasure's crazed, color-coded shoot 'em up Ikaruga has been found on PartnerNet, an alternate form of Xbox Live for developers to use for testing code, according to a poster at the SHMUPS forums. The game was reportedly a 49.04 MB download, and captured screenshots show menus for the leaderboard and replay system. Also noteworthy is that the game supports both 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios.

Ikaruga's appearance on PartnerNet does not necessarily mean the game will be released anytime soon, although there does seem to be an indication that the game is nearing completion. Ikaruga was announced for XBLA alongside Rez, which is slated for release this month.

Here's a vid:

I've saved some of my points for when it comes out :D

Mr. Driller Online hits this Wednesday. I gotta admit I haven't played a Mr. Driller game, but I sure have played Dig Dug, which Mr. Driller was going to be a sequel to. Anyway, here are some screens!

I played the demo for Mr. Driller. Unfortunately it's a time limited one, so it's very short. Thinking of hitting up earlier entries in the series to get an idea of whether I want this version or not...

Edit: 360 fanboy says the online multiplayer is a laggy mess. Now, this could very well be related to Live or the people that were testing, but if online multi matters to you (and it should, it's the focus of this game) then I'd wait for Namco to announce/release a patch.

Not next week, but the week after, the XBLA release is the long awaited (well, it was announced quite a while ago) Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm from Sega. Looks like a platformer of some sort? Maybe a brawler? I dunno. Here are some screenies...

This week's title is indeed Ikaruga. It's out, it's pretty cool, it's 800 points. I'll play the demo a bunch more before I lay down judgement upon it.

It's SuperCalaFreakinAwesome!
Just grabbed it too and after a few plays I have managed to beat the first chapter. Very much the bullet hell shooter but with a very neat twist in the polarity changer. Depending if you have you ship set to light or dark you change how your firepower is vs enemies as well as how vulnerable you are to their firepower. Needs a bit of strategy to get through it and I can see a bit of longetivity as a result. Might try the demo for a couple more days (until payday at least ^_^) and pick this one up :).
Recently finished: Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank:TOD, Bionic Commando Rearmed
Playing: LittleBigPlanet, Rockband!!!111

Yes. In under 3 months I went from being a 360 owner to a PS3 owner. Idiotic? Maybe. Financial Stupidity? Definately. Do I care? No bloody way! :D

Man this sucks... I'm gonna need another MS point card already. Who knew MS would pump out the big guns all in a row? Here are the threads for each of those games... well, the ones threads have been made for anyway. I recommend the last four for sure, they look fantastic.

Castle Crashers

Oh ya, for all you old-school Duke Nukem fans, the game's been released on XBLA - 800MS points.

So far it looks and feels like the oldschool version and that replay camera (when you die you don't have to restart the level but get to choose where you want to pick up from) was a good idea! Makes the game more bearable.

Haven't had the oppertunity to try this online (LIVE's down for the next 48 hours) and it's a little dissapointing to see that you can't have a split-screen multiplayer match (only SYSTEM LINK).

Forgot to mention, it looks like you can choose whichever level you want to play (even the secret ones).

How old-school are we talking? Sounds like Duke Nukem 3d, not original Duke Nukem right?
