Is it easy to create things?

Might be inclined to create a gryphon-type creature

Incredibly so. You could make a gryphon quite easily. The difficult part would be attaching bunches of feathers.. though that's not really hard either.

An interesting discovery about Spore:

The forum linked above is full of angry, angry Sims 2 fans so they've probably overblown it somewhat. But still...

If you can provide documentation of this and post it on-line that would be awesome. I suspect that the neglect to inform the user that the program will be using their computer user name to submit information to the Sporepedia server serves as grounds for a lawsuit. If so, whatever hard evidence we can gather of malicious behaviour and / or behaviour that puts a user's computer in jeopardy with regards to security would definitely be helpful.

If its that serious I'd hate to say it but that needs to be done. Even if its just a way to identify a person for "Spore only" purposes its still a security risk but then it could be just paranoia.

It won't stop me getting it though

Bunch of new vidyas. First up is a little bit old interview with Will Wright from EA3 (EA's pre-e3 dealie majigger) and Garnet Lee from 1UP. They talk about the game mechanics and how the AI and Sporepedia and stuff work. Very cool stuff if you want to know how the game works.

The next vid is a theatrical style trailer, which is pretty entertaining to see. Oh yeah, I don't think it's been mentioned os far that Stephen Fry is narrating this game. Now it has :)

Finally there's a bunch of developer walkthrough vids showing off some stages of the game, which I've slapped in the spoiler tag below...

Good news everyone...except for you who bought the Spore Creature Creator online.

News.com.au has reported that SPORE Creature Creator (full version) will be available to buy this Saturday (August 2nd) for readers of the Sunday Daily Telegraph and Herald Sun for a measly $2 - It's one of those coupon deals where they tear it out of the 1st page or something.

Don't miss your free* Spore Creature Creator game on 2 August with The Saturday Daily Telegraph.

Spore, the new game by the makers of SIM CITY and THE SIMS, is a five stage game with each stage corresponding to a phase of evolution: cell, creature, tribe, civilisation and space.

Spore Creature Creator is the second chapter of the game. Where you create extraordinary life forms- dorsal finned amphibians or colossal brawnysauruses- it’s like having an animation studio in your home.

You’ll have hours of fun choosing your creatures body shape, legs, arms, face, hands, feet, weapons and name. Each element is completely adjustable so no two creatures are the same. Once designed, watch your creature roar, dance, laugh, fight, sing and spit the dummy!

You can even take videos and pictures to send to friends and load on to YouTube. Spore Creature Creator is easy to use, highly addictive and will provide hours of fun for the whole family.

Spore Creature Creator is free with The Saturday Daily Telegraph on Saturday 2 August from participating newsagents, while stocks last.

Let's hope this is not just the demo version which has really limiting creature building options

Dunno... I doubt it. The demo is entirely free online, so I don't think it'd be that.

The Sunday Telegraph (or something like that) is giving away the Spore Creator demo with their paper this weekend. For people who like... don't use the internet but somehow know about upcoming games? I dunno. Nice to see Spore hitting mainstream though, especially with such a distant release date.
