- Mario Tennis will come to the Wii eventually, according to Bozon
- Ultimate Band will be decent (or High School Musical) for younger audiences interested in music games like Guitar Hero
- Excite Truck not the only game to offer custom soundtrack (Endless Ocean, too but you couldn’t really create a soundtrack)
- Funny emails about people asking to pimp their rides, someone who thinks the IGN Nintendo Team partially developed Mario Kart Wii
- Look forward to (hopefully) Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Monster Hunter, Fatal Frame, any surprises at E3 - Mega Man 9 supposed to be at E3
- E3 fantasy surprise: Bozon - Miyamoto coming out botomless, Matt - Retro’s serious next big game
- Matt doesn’t think we’ll see more Metroid at E3 unless it’s a remake of Wii controls for MP1 + MP2
- The IGN Nintendo team says they’re not ready for E3 - It’s pre-E3 for them right now
- Matt & Bozon are psyched for Fatal Frame, but one of Matt’s friends said it had a weird framerate - should be fairly hyped
- Matt will sell his Wii Fit to Craig
- Matt will have a little fun at the E3 media briefing (it’s the highlight for everyone basically)
- Wario Land for Wii footage (thoughts) - looks alright, it’s a 2D platformer
- Kid Icarus or Man Icarus? Man Icarus (Icarus is supposed to be older anyway)
- IGN Nintendo team hyped for The Dark Knight
- Know 5-6 at least games for Wii for sure, expect more games though (gimmicky stuff and traditional stuff)
- Pikmin 3 Party Babyz joke
- Space Station Tycoon still canceled
- New peripheral at E3? Bozon thinks they’re bound to, need voice chat and storage solution (not sure if these two will be peripherals)
- Overall E3 rating hype: Watch out for crazy factor, Nintendo should have some good stuff this year
- Other franchises that will get the Mega Man 9 deal: Bozon hopes for Castlevania, not too many franchises that would work
- IGN stream keynotes up to Fran
- Matt thought Elebits 2 DS would be for the Wii, but Konami still thinking about a Wii version
- There’ll be a lot of RE5 gameplay
- Daemon doesn’t like Civilization Revolution for DS, nothing like Advance Wars
- We’ll never stop getting VC crap
- More third-party games other than The Conduit need to sell well for them to step up on Wii
- There will be third-party E3 surprises, but nothing too big
- Joke about NGamer’s blurb on the unexpected take on a next gen-favorite (Bionic Commando card game for Wii joke)
- Not too high chances for Crystal Bearers at E3
- Chrono Trigger port/remake looks just like a SNES game on the DS, won’t be coming to the VC
- Nothing too much that has blown Matt away graphically that will be at E3 (don’t know anything first-party though)
- Rygar was delayed again for the Wii, is still supposed to come out
- If Kid Icarus shows up, that’s a big piece of fan service. Same with Animal Crossing and maybe Pikmin 3
- Star Wars Force Unleashed: 360 version excites the IGN Nintendo Team the most
- Star Fox Wii at E3: Matt hopes not, Craig wants to see the series continue
- Soul Bubbles review up, Craig enjoyed it - can only get it at Toys R Us
- Chances of OLED for next handheld: Not high
- New handheld this generation? Bozon’s theory: Will be linked with Wii, a bit of internal memory, GB, GBC, backwards compatible with DS, touch and rumble - announcement maybe this year, could come out in 2009

- Nintendo might show off some hardcore games at TGS or maybe a new Spaceworld
- Nintendo understands the core, but Craig thinks marketing department is out of touch with core audience - Iwata makes final decisions for what to show at conference
- Matt thought Kid Icarus would be at E3 - “What is true one day is not true the next and we don’t really make the news, we tell you what we hear”
- Matt would recommend Wario Land to anyone, Matt used to think it would be a quick cash-in game (but not anymore)
- We have to see if there is more to City Folk than the bug catching, fishing, etc. - apparently more to the online mode then Nintendo showed
- Matt thinks there could be more that will be announced before the end of the year (Fatal Frame, other things Nintendo could potentially publish from third-parties)
- Matt thinks Nintendo will eventually pack Wii MotionPlus with the Wii controllers in the future
- When will Cammie be fired? Not anytime soon - Only 1 show, Matt thinks we should give her a break
- Matt + Craig loved The Dark Knight
- Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia uses the same engine as previous two DS titles
- Matt wants to review Wii Music so he can blast it (Matt hopes the game will have something redeeming when it ships)
- Is Nintendo holding back own lineup for third-parties? Matt doesn’t thinks so, no rush for them to flood market with their own software
- Matt + Craig won’t be sad if E3 doesn’t come back next year
- No word on Disaster: Day of Crisis, Matt fears the future for the game - might be heading down Project H.A.M.M.E.R’s path
- FFCC: The Crystal Bearers - still in development, Square Enix had nothing to show
- NOA not knowing about Fatal Frame 4 - The people being questioned were probably the executives, won’t know about it until there is a press release/are coached about it
- Mad World was eyes-on - looked cool + fun but the style is a weird mashup
- Game of the show for any console: Matt - Mirror’s Edge or Dead Space, Craig - Fallout 3
- Nintendo won’t make a switch to disc-based format in future handhelds because of loadtimes and battery power
- Nintendo hasn’t released their own game for the VC in over 3 months - Matt thinks maybe Nintendo is trying to address all third-party games in their queue
- Favorite instrument in Wii Music - Matt: “The power-off button”
- Nintendo didn’t show much for the DS at all - Craig thinks that Nintendo could at least make a New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the same engine
- There was no DS redesign because of booming DSL sales

Did anyone find in the latest podcast (ep 18) that the sound constantly drops in and out? Or do I need to just download it again?

This week:

Quote:

- Capcom or Nintendo advertising Mega Man 9 in any way? Matt + Bozon don’t really know. Maybe magazine ads.

- What happened to the Kirby game for the Cube? As far as the IGN Nintendo team knows, it’s still in development. Might see it on Wii in some form or another.

- How often is cleaning day at IGN? Rarely, usually when the company president comes by

- If the IGN team could ban one question on the podcast, what would it be? “When’s Nintendo going to announce their new hardcore game?” “Where’s the game Reggie talked about in this interview?” “Why didn’t Miyamoto show this at E3?”

- Metroid Prime Hunters 2? Haven’t heard anything, Metroid Prime Hunters sold decently

- Daemon likes Michael Phelps, Bozon isn’t really in love with him

- Games for a grandma on the DS: My Word Coach, Cooking Mama

- New Headstrong game tomorrow: Matt knows what it is, have known what it is for more than a year, have been talking about it for a while - coverage of the game at 7 AM PST - It’s not Zelda 2, Matt says Wii owners will be pleased, but says we should settle down (Bozon says use your brain, it’s SEGA. It’s not Sonic)

- More oldschool games like Mega Man 9? Konami might put something out. Companies probably waiting to see how Mega Man 9 performs.

- Nintendo screwing themselves over by concentrating on casual fans that may forget about them? Matt doesn’t think so, at least not yet. Casuals buying software that even the traditional gamers buy (ex: Sports games)

- Thoughts on Little King’s Story: Matt and Bozon want to play it, has a lot of potential

- No Double Dragon game since SNES? Can’t be answered

- Info on new Bond Game? Might be a bad sign that we haven’t seen it for Wii yet, Matt has no details

- Tales of Symphonia? Will have it playable soon, maybe next week

- Did the Nintendo team see the announcement for Kore on Wii? Art style nice, looks sort of like a basic platforming game but solid. Nothing really Wii-like about it.

- Messed around with Korg DS-10? Full-fledged professional synthesizer, will be lost if you’re not a musician

- Thoughts on Strong Bad? Took a couple of hours to finish, worth it if you’re a Homestar fan. Preview of episode 2 this week.

- Godfather II for Wii? Daemon asked EA about it, don’t have plans to bring the game to Wii

- Any chance of Headstrong Games making Battalion Wars 3? Battalion Wars 2 didn’t sell too well, don’t count on it

- Besides LucasArts, are developers talking about using Wii MotionPlus? High Voltage Software seemed excited about it, but are busy with other stuff, probably Tiger. Still can’t use it as a third-party.

- Gut feeling about Castlevania Judgement? Save money for Order of Ecclesia. Really rough. There’s still time to develop it, though.

- Why doesn’t Nintendo release schedule for WiiWare/VC games? Won’t be happening. Nintendo doesn’t treat third-parties too well.

- Thoughts about content on the Nintendo Channel? Content is okay, weird that they take down DS demos.

- US release date for Fatal Frame 4? No official release date, Matt still thinks it’s coming, maybe a Q1 or Q2 title.

- Recommend Disgaea on PSP or DS? Daemon says you should choose the DS version, but get the DS version if you don’t have a PSP

- Bionic Commando Rearmed awesome or super-awesome? Super-awesome. Nice game all-around

- Best strategy RPG on DS? Disgaea or FF: Tactics for Daemon, Bozon likes Disgaea

- Mega Man 9 release date? This September

I've highlighted what I thought was interesting this week...

Quote:

- Should Mega Man 9 be priced as a regular NES title or at 800 or so points? Mega Man fans will pay no matter what, Matt thinks the game should be cheaper across the board
- What’s the deal with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Wii? Is it worth buying? It’s on Bozon’s radar list, if you’re on the fence, then rent it. It’s fun and very cool. Matt thinks it’s pretty fun too.
- Early thoughts/impressions on Tales of Symphonia 2? matt doesn’t have the game yet, should have it very soon
- Any chance Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments will work with Rock Band 2? Bozon doesn’t think that will happen since they went two different routes with the tech
- Madden 09 is fun and all but why isn’t EA making the game look as good as possible? It isn’t ugly, but more can be done, still looks better than any Madden on Wii. Bozon isn’t sure if they’ll do more ever since EA could just add more features instead.
- Any revalations on any old-school style games such as Mega Man 9? Miyamoto hinted Nintendo is working on a New New Super Mario Bros., Reggie kind of hinted as well. As far as non-first party Nintendo, there are only rumblings, nothing solid.
- Lack of information on GTA: China Town Wars? Matt and Bozon give examples of how Rock Star is always tight-lipped
- Is it time to start cracking the whip again until Nintendo mentions something to someone about storage? Nintendo seems to be off in happy land again forgetting people are interested in more storage and seem to have forgotten they have forgotten hardcore gamers as well
- How good are we talking in regards to Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia? It’s better than Portrait of Ruin, not sure about Dawn of Sorrow. Bozon doesn’t know if it’ll beat out Symphonia of Night. Really cool, good.
- We keep hearing Nintendo has a redesign coming for the DS, maybe removing the GBA slot
- Is Castlevania Judgment kind of Konami’s Soul Calibur Legends? It’s too early to say but so far Matt isn’t blown away and isn’t really impressed - So far, yes

- The Conduit will get a publisher it’s just a matter of time. Major publishers have expressed interest. It’s not like a Nibris situation.
- Zelda Wii MotionPlus sword-controls, Super Mario Galaxy add-on pack or something similar, a real Resident Evil game for the Wii all realistic possibilites on Wii. Matt isn’t too sure of a true Resident Evil game though.
- Free Radical is making a Wii title, they’re doing the Wii version of Star Wars: Battlefront (the next one)
- Matt thinks Too Human is a good game but he agrees with some of the complaints (same with Bozon)
- Eternal Darkness on Wii probably won’t happen
- Anything coming for WiiWare that resembles Fat Princess for Wii? Animales de la Muerte is kind of similar, same with Swords & Soldiers
- Nintendo will probably make a design change and use Wii MotionPlus for the next Zelda. Matt thinks the franchise needs a reboot. Matt would be for a Wind Waker style. Bozon would like to see adult Wind Waker style.
- Nothing official coming for Nintendo tracks in Guitar Hero: World Tour on Wii
- Sonic and the Black Knight has a chance if the team listens to the feedback on the previous feedback (faster, don’t focus on the sword too much)
- Matt wouldn’t have considered giving Galaxy a 10 even if he knew MGS4 and GTA4 would get 10s. Matt did consider giving the game a 10 before some issues arose.
- Overlord: Dark Legend is shaping up well. Concept is cool. Should be good with the Wiimote.
- Any tidbits at TGS? There is going to be some stuff definitely such as Little King’s Story

I think it's hard to say. While it looks like a NES game, it sounds like it'll have all the benefits of a modern game's development processes. I reckon $10US is fair. It's like the reverse of Bionic Commando (which was an old game with a new game's prettiness), and that was $10US.

Sony and MS are working with Konami, Activision and Harmonix to work something out for all three games, where as we've heard nothing from Nintendo at all.

Fingers crossed that NSMB2 is based on Super Mario Bros. 2 US and not the crappy Lost Levels.

People have overly fond memories of SOTN. It's great, but there have been CV games that are as good as it on the GBA/DS I reckon.

Sucks to be anyone that wants to keep using their rumble pak/GHOT guitar grip/other random accessory!

SMG add on pack? Like DLC? Jeez, I still don't have all 120 stars :P

After seeing how craptacular Haze was, yawn.

Indeed, not with Silicon Knights being best chums with MS.

Adult Wind Waker style? lol, how the hell would that work? I think a full on reboot sounds good. Like, all the way. Not resembling the past games much at all. Maybe they should try to ape Shadow of the Colossus or Okami?

Have they read about the game? (lol) Sword attacks happen while you run, reports say. Also, it's the Secret Rings team, which was ridiculously fast (in fact, I almost wanted that game slowed down lol).
