Edit: Currently 360 exclusive, so there you go.

Dunno when this was announced, but this is the first I've heard of it. Tales of Vesperia is the first next gen entry into the Tales series. Though the platform is unannounced, chances are high that it will be a PS3 exclusive, if not a cross platform release. Anywho, here's the trailer (I suggest grabbing the HD version, this game is very pretty):

Confirmed for 360! Woo!

You wouldn't usually expect a new Tales game to debut in a magazine outside of Japan, but that's apparently what has happened with Bandai Namco's Tales of Vesperia. Following the game's announcement at December's Jump Festa event in Tokyo, a magazine outside of Japan was the first to get the full word on the game, along with confirmation of Xbox 360 as the platform.

This development attracted the attention of (and possibly confused) the editors over at Famitsu and Famitsu.com, the usual sources for Japanese game scoops, so they got on the line with Bandai Namco's PR department for re-confirmation.

Famitsu.com posted its conversation with the Bandai Namco PR department in the form of a short Q&A.

Asked if it's true that the game will be released on the Xbox 360, the PR department responded, "Yes, we have decided to release TOV overseas on the Xbox 360."

Asked if the game will be released only on the 360, "We've decided to release TOV on the Xbox 360, but regarding other platforms, we're looking at all possibilities."
So yeah, if it's announced for PS3 as well, this thread'll go back into General, but for now here we are. SO gonna buy this :D

- Namco Bandai confirmed that new Tales RPG will be coming to both Xbox 360 and Wii in US this year. Tales of Versperia will be coming to Xbox 360 in Q4 2008, while Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World will be coming to Wii around the same time.

Screenshots for those too lazy to look at a video! Damn this game is gorgeous. Of course, it's another Namco game, like Eternal Sonata. Wish other developers would realise that next gen doesn't need to equal realism...

Voice acting isn't too hot, but it's bearable. I think I heard Leonardo from Ninja Turtles in there somewhere, lol.

Anyways yer, Tales games are pretty good. The guys who made the first game went on to make Star Ocean for Enix, so if you've played SO, Tales is pretty similar to that.

Demo has hit live... for the US at least. So go check if you can grab it, if not make a yank account and do so. It's 278 meg apparently... not too big. Reckon I'll grab it tonight...

Edit: Wait, no. It's not the US yet. Screw it, I have a Jap account, I'll grab it anyway :P

So what do you think Demaar? It certainly looks very Tales-ish anyway.

Had a play of it. Pretty much a Tales game, but very pretty? Voice acting was crap, but to be expected. If they have a Japanese dialogue option it should be quite an enjoyable game...
