I really wasn't expecting much from Spirited Away (mostly because I tend to see things with loads of publicity as over rated) but it actually ended up being incredibly enjoyable.

RPG Lover Posts: 497 Group: Members Member #9 Joined: February 10, 2005	My all time favourite anime has got to be Neon Genesis: Evangelion both the series and the 2 movies that followed. It's one of the first anime series that I really payed attention to (not including the kiddy anime that I'd watched when I was younger). It really transported me into the world of Evangelion, the characters are complicated and well developed and the story as a whole is engaging and is really deep and meaningful. The theology behind the story though is the most interesting to me, especially Lilith. This anime inspired me to do some research on Lilith which has helped me to understand the story more, religion and my own femininity. This anime is crazy and complicated, but it can affect people in so many different ways as it can be interpreted differently depending on the mindset of the viewer at the time and the extent of their knowledge... I feel really at a loss for words to really express how much this anime means to me personally and I know that not everyone likes it, but those who do usually love it.

I've found what I consider better shows since then, but I still have fond memories of Eva. I need to watch the movies sometime... though I reckon the series' end was just fine as it was.

They go to depths that no other anime I've seen has matched... although I haven't seen a lot of anime to tell the truth. I love those kinds of anime that keep you thinking and taking so many different meanings from them depending on how you interpret them.

うるさい!!! Posts: 4,511 Group: Moderators Member #53 Joined: February 19, 2005	I was waiting for someone to put Eva down. I didnt want to do it myself cause I wanted this to be a member's comp heh. But yes, from the first time I watched NGE 10-11 years ago now on SBS i fell in love. although i didnt finish the entire series back then, it introduced me to the wonderful world of anime, and liking in giant robots fighting each other :D. few years later, i was lucky enough to have found a friend with the entire series and watched it from him. But yeah, january has nicely put down all the things that makes NGE so great, and I dont really need to reiterate. Also, this post isn't to enter the comp, just felt like sharing my thoughts on Eva :D
