Yep, the classification board has rated it...

No word on the platforms yet, but for the uninitiated, this marks the first game in the classic series since Mega Man 8 back in 1997.

So I guess this is one of the other games that Capcom will be revealing? Wonder if by multiplatform it means PS3/360, Wii/DS or just everything?

Hmmm, well... could be XBLA/PSN/WiiWare maybe? But then, Red Ant being the applicant just makes that confusing...

Actually, I heard rumours of a PSN Megaman game a loooong time ago, so this could very well be it. Lemme see if I can find the thread...

Some more rumouring thanks to GN:

Quote:

- retro 8-bit art style

- Mega Man and Protoman playable, each with separate storylines

- storyline will not lead into the ‘X’ series

- new characters, robot masters, and possibly supporting cast

- plays in the style of MM 3-6

- online in the form of leaderboards and another unknown online element

- once again, another person stating that this will hit all platforms, but will be an XBLA/PSN title. That still points to a retail release for Wii.

A Magazine scan (from Nintendo Power I think?) reveals that the retro art style will be... like, actual retro graphics. It'll alsol be a downloadable title with WiiWare scoring a release...

The robot bosses for the new title include Magma Man, Galaxy Man, Jewel Man, Concrete Man, Hornet Man, Plug Man, Tornado Man, and possibly Splash Woman.
Dunno what to think, really. I thought they meant, like... retro designs or something. This's a step back from even the SNES Megaman games...

Retro designs?

Ah man, that's a strange move, they're catering to old-school fans... but then again, this is Capcom.
[!!] COMPLETED: Devil May Cry 4 (Hunter Mode), Castle Crashers
[>] PLAYING: Duke 3D (XBL)
[//] NEXT: GTAIV, WoW?

I reckon I will as well, at the right price. The problem they face, I think, is that there are so many NES games out there people just haven't played. By selling a NES standard game (assuming functionally and graphically), they're going to turn people away if it's not at the right price. Hell, they may lose sales from people thinking it's an over priced classic...

Anyways, 61 FPS has another of their usual top ten features, this time The ten greatest classic Mega Man levels. I agree for the most part, especially their selection for the best.

The early Mega Man games are masterpieces of their era, and they feature some of the most unforgettable stages on the NES — a series of giant constructions that, high-tech though they may be, maintain a playground-like innocence. World-building obsessives that we are, we couldn't let this glorious day go by without commemorating the ten greatest classic Mega Man levels of all time.

Elec Man

Keiji Inafune's first attempt at Mega Man was promising but ultimately half-baked. The play was there but the world itself was still confused, its six core stages shuffling back and forth between "gamey" abstraction and eerie pastoral. Elec Man's tower was one of the series' first real successes, an ascent that felt like a true structure and not a background for a sprite to jump about, a dangerous place pulsing with energy that could obliterate our diminutive hero using the very power that fueled his mechanical innards.
