American McGee is back, and this time he's bringing fairy tales back to their roots with "Grimm". A 24 half-hour episode long season, Grimm is a platformer where you play as the titular character take popular, disneyfied, tall tales and returning the horribleness to them. Not much has been revealed about pricing beyond getting the game via GameTap, but Sam & Max (also made in a Gametap partnership) were reasonably priced so I can't see why this won't be. Here's some vids of the game in action (four more vids are in the spoiler tag)...

うるさい!!!
So we basically control a guy who runs around defiling the worlds of the fairy tales we all grew up loving (or not)? hmm... probably not my kind of thing, tho i assume a ton of others out there would like it.
World of Warcraft:
Elrahd
Level 70 Night Elf Balance Druid
<Golden Dawn> of Maelstrom Server

Not 100% sure, but I think that's the gist of it. hoping that there's a little more to the platforming than was shown in the vids. But yeah, thanks to the episodic nature of the series they'll be able to take comments and criticism on board and implement changes that will be reflected within 2 or so episodes. Not 100% sure but I think it'll be a weekly or fortnightly release.

Here's a pair of cut scene vids from the game. The first is the opening, which I think is absolutely awesome. It reminds me of something you might see on Cartoon Network or something. The graphics are simple, but I love the way they're stylised. The second is a trailer showing some of the future fairy tales Grimm will be reclaiming...

Kotaku has a hands on feature going which seems mostly (if not entirely) positive. They also mention that the first episode will be entirely free, which is rad and awesome...

The shiny hatchet in the corner turns into a bloody headsman’s axe, the bucket of water turns into a bucket of blood, the pretty princess turns into an ashen zombie and all it takes is a little running and jumping on Grimm’s part. As things turn uglier, your dark meter goes up, allowing you to reach a wider area and turn larger and larger object into their darker selves. But beware, do-gooder NPC’s are on hand to try and clean up the mess you’ve made! Give a good butt stomp near them to send them into a daze and gain enough darkness to eventually turn them over to the evil side. Once you are all finished you are presented with another puppet show, this time showing you the darker version of the tale.

Grimm has a great, simple graphical style but don’t let that make you think it’s a game for kids. This is a very twisted world and the game will have an M rating. The humor is quite black and may have some players scratching their heads but those of you with a sick sense of humor will absolutely love it. The keyboard and mouse controls are simple and easy to use but if you tend towards the controller, you can use any USB controller at your disposal (including the 360’s). Each episode is short and can be completed straight through in about 30 minutes, but there are plenty of reasons to go back and replay the levels including secret items, power-ups, beating your time and the simple pleasure of seeing everything turn scary.

OK, this is even better news than the first episode being free. Joystiq reports that every episode will be exactly the same; entirely free for the first 24 hours after its release

GameTap is taking a most unusual approach with its first weekly episodic game series. Each episode of American McGee's Grimm – individual "fractured fairytales" from the designer of American McGee's Alice – will debut as a free download and remain free for a 24-hour period. After that, episodes will go into GameTap's archives and be available to download individually for a yet-to-be-determined price.

The model is likened to that of the iTunes or Xbox Live video download services. Catching a Grimm episode during the initial download-for-free window will be like watching a new episode of a show on network TV. Once it's "aired," you can download it if you missed it – for a price.

lol, indeed. Though assuming they have a simple file naming scheme for the downloads, it might be possible to schedule future episodes...

Next ep, Little Red Riding Hood, is out and still free for the rest of the day. Get it here.

Edit:
Hmm, seems the stand alone download version was a one off offer... and I don't know how to get the Gametap client to work, damn. Still free for anyone that CAN get it to work though...
