Anyone going to see the X Files movie? I was a massive, *massive* fan in the 90s but now... I'm consumed by apathy for the show.

Do you think the movie will flop? Or will the old fans dust off their I Want to Believe tshirts?

It could work, although I think a flop is more likely, we'll wait and see.

Sometimes I think I was born backwards
I ain't gonna see it, but I only saw maybe 2 eps of the show, and I gotta assume they were bad ones since the show has such a massive fanbase. I didn't know a single person that didn't at least like the show back in the day, besides myself.

I guess I didn't care for the characters being FBI agents either.

I've been slowly building up my Xfile DVD collection. I've got quite a few collectors items (like cards and a book and an official channel 10 t-shirt and aunt got me), but I lost touch with it after the first movie came out (or I think just a little before) and was hoping to get back into it with the DVD's, but as that's a work in progress I'm thinking I'll wait until this 2nd movie is out on DVD.

I hardly got see movies at the cinema anymore anyway. Most of the time if there's a movie I want to see on the big screen I'll put it off as I'm so busy all the time, then forget about it until I see the DVD in stores... by then it's a little too late. I have more important things to do with my time like play games and do homework.

Saw this the other day and it's a decent watch... for DVD that is.

The movie seemed like it was better suited for a DVD release rather than a theatrical one - there's simply nothing "epic" enough in the story to differentiate it from a "movie-length" tv episode.

Lastly, the story wasn't gripping enough to keep me engadged in it - there's really no suspense at all and the setting makes it too barren for people to think "Damn, that could happen to me!" Although, I did like how Scully's sub-plot tied into Mulder's at the end.... even though it took too damn long and kept moving away from the essence of the X-Files.

In short - watch it on DVD and don't expect too much classic X-Files themes that made the series what it was.

Ah, thanks for the revival. I actually saw this a few weeks back. Overall, I was bored out of my mind. It's basically, like nspa said, an extended extended stand alone episode of the X Files. There's nothing at all epic or interesting about it. And far too much pointless sub sub plots and pillow talk. Yeah, it's a DVD watch for sure.
