"The retail and consumer feedback from Thursdays Nintendo DS launch has been astounding", says Rose Lappin, Director of Sales and Marketing, Nintendo Australia. "We are eagerly awaiting the official market sales figures this week to fully solidify our place in the Australian marketplace as the most successful current hardware launch ever!"

The Nintendo DS has sold more than 1 million units in Europe. The success of the handheld's launch was quite a pleasent surprise with a record-breaking opening weekend and a current consistent sell-through. With a huge upcoming line-up, the DS is sure to see more success this holiday season everywhere.

Woot! the DS kicks ass, in Japan at least

Here is a great comparision between the DS and PSP sales for everyweek since release. Of course this is only Japan sales, but the DS is going strong.

YTD DS has sold 321,830 more than PSP.

LTD DS has sold 1,326,175 more than PSP.

Check it Out

Ha! DS owned PSP during the PSP launch week! When Japan drops support the machine should die in the water.

Although, I'd be terrified to see Australian sales figures.
