This seems to be have been a hot discussion for some time, especially atm and IMO it's certainly a possibility, not at the same time as PS3/360, but a bit further down the line.

Most recently, GN report:

Reader Ghetto_Ninja recently took a survey that was put together by Capcom. One of the questions asked what would make us want to purchase Resident Evil 5 more. Check out the question below.

This led to many comments, some interesting ones:

If I’m not mistaken, RE4 started out a GCN exclusive and was watered down for the PS2. Although the situation is NOT the same here (PS3/360 significantly more powerful), the idea of capcom watering down one game for another system is a valid one.

It’s ABSOLUTELY going to happen. The real proof?
The official line on the Capcom forums lately has changed from, “right now there are no plans for RE5 on the Wii” to “I have no new information to report on that”

Capcom is porting Dead Rising to the Wii, an XB360 game.

Capcom ported RE4 from GC to PS2 even though they had to lower the game resolution and polygon count.

At the end it is just about business not technology, and right now Wii is the best selling console and RE4 Wii and UC sold quite well. It is a no brainer from a business stand point to release RE5 for the Wii.

Thoughts?

Likely, and why the hell not? If it weren't for the co-op multiplayer this would make it a much harder decision of which version to buy. As it stands, co-op on two screens trumps motion controls.

I disagree. How often do you have someone that is willing to sit next to you for like 20+ hours to finish a game?

Exactly. Where as drop in/drop out co-op over the net is incredibly likely to happen. If they do it like Gears (and they likely will, seems they're borrowing back from Gears with RE5) then it'll be ridiculously easy to hook up with others on PSN/Live...

Latest in the saga, GN report:

A comment posted on Capcom’s forums…

“Capcom, I’m really pissed right now. I want to play these games, but you give us Wii owners the shaft. No RE5 Wii, possibly no Dead Rising 2, no Lost Planet, no Flock, no Age of Booty, No Street Fighter 4, no Devil May Cry, no Dark Void.”

Of course, Capcom took the time to answer this call…

“We are contemplating versions of one or two of the CEI titles you’ve mentioned on the Wii (not saying which), but we’d like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs” - Christian Svensso

I loved RE4 and bought it on both the GC and Wii. I was very disappointed when RE5 was announced it would only be on PS3 and 360. But then when I seen a video of it in action I lost interest. It looked like RE4 with a new skin. What are the odds there's a chainsaw weilding, potatoe sack wearing, psycho in both Europe and Africa?

I would be more interested if their was some evidence they had attempted to improve the engine (beyond polygon count and lighting effects) and made it feel fresher than RE4. RE5 doesn't appear to have introduced anything more exciting than what we seen in RE4.

The fact that the zombies can run ala 28 Days style.

=) That should keep things exciting for a while... but, just remember, each RE Title (apart from 4) looked exactly the same and played the same and still received high review scores.

And to answer the thread's question:

Most likely, but it won't be the same as playing it on the 360/ps3 because of the wii's hardware - just look at Dead Rising on the 360 and Wii and notice the difference in zombie count.
[!!] COMPLETED: Devil May Cry 4 (Hunter Mode), Castle Crashers
