Thread blatantly stolen from helic0n at the eegra.com forums (which was blatantly stolen from GAF). What is your game of the year for the past decade? This is off the top of my head (just like it was in my post over thar), so it could change at a moment's notice!

Eh, you meant melee for your 2002 one right? as opposed to brawl, which only got released this year >.>

1998 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (big surprise here hey? lol)
1999 - Super Smash Brothers
2000 - Deus Ex
2001 - Super Smash Brothers Melee (was released in 2001 for America >.>)
2002 - Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos
2003 - World of Warcraft (Collector's Edition ftw)
2004 - Half-Life 2
2005 - Mario Kart DS
2006 - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (big surprise here too eh? lol)
2007 - Orange Box ($99 for 3 games and 2 episode expansions is pretty damn good imo. Oh and Portal wins just for originality and its impact on game culture. eg. The cake is a lie, Still Alive, Companion Cube lol)

Wow, I'm surprised I actually managed to complete that list hah

Wow JimJim, Grim Fandango? Really? I wasn't expecting that. I mean, it's a great game, but I didn't know you were an point n clicker fan.

I was gonna put Orange Box too, but judged on individual games, I played through Mass Effect like 6 times or something. Possibly more. In fact, I have a massive urge to boot it up whenever I think about it lol

I swear I need to play Deus Ex, it was on other people's lists too, IIRC.

You seriously do. It's honestly one of the best games I have ever played. And in terms of aging, it ages in a good way. You have to play through it several times in order to see everything and every outcome of your decisions since you miss a fair few things on your first go, or at least, I did lol. This is coming from a guy who played it first time with cheats (because it's incredibly hard without it even on easy lol). So yeah, if its possible to actually enjoy the game even with cheats, that's got to say something about the game since cheats usually take everything away from games (like in a RTS).

I have very fond memories of Grim Fandango and the Curse of Monkey Island in particular, two of my all-time favourite games and two of the only games that I find myself replaying ever now and then.

Also, yes, I did mean Melee, my bad.
