[anchor]more[/anchor]Congratulations on purchasing your new DSi! You may have noticed that instead of the slick easy to wipe shinny surface of the DS Lite, the DSi's feels like a remnant of your primary school past, the chalkboard. If you can harken back to your days when your only concern was getting to the King's square in hand-ball or your times-tables, you'd remember that the chalkboard would eventually become coated like the business end of a drug lord's cutting table, therefore reducing the sentence that Miss Jones wrote on the chalkboard no more legible than your doctor's handwriting. But fear not fellow DSians, for there are a plethora of covers and pouches to protect the chalkboard DSi from the hazards of life and evidently chalk.

Ingram has already reviewed the 3rd Earth DSi Console Glove (Link) and recommends it, however, if you're like me and think the silicon glove looks like it belongs to someone who has a latex fetish, then maybe POWER A's officially Licenced by Nintendo DSi slip-on case is for you.

The Slip on case is, as you expect it, made out of some synthetic material that tries looks like leather, but smells and feels nothing like it. It's actually a pretty tough material so any chance that the DSi might decide it wants to become a bird you can be assured that the case will protect the DSi's small escapade. The console fits very snugly inside the slip-on and is secured by a small velcro'ed flap - there's no chance this thing is going to fall out of the case. The slip-on case is lined with small felt so the DSi's cover isn't going to become stuck to this odd smelling synthetic material.

Now, you may have noticed that the slip-on has no space for your DS carts, well, POWER A thought of that and gives you a small DS Cart wallet that holds 4 games. So far I've had no problem slapping the games inside the wallet and each are held very securely. Except GTA Chinatown Wars which seems to want to jiggle about. Don't get me wrong, the cart still slots into the grooves and won't fall out, but it's odd you know, maybe the new carts are smaller?

Lastly, in case the POWER A still hasn't grabbed your attention, the pack comes with two (useless) protective screen covers for the DSi screens and two more styluses! The styluses are exactly the same width and length as the DSi ones (as they should be) but have a white tip.

Overall, the case is excellent. It doesn't feel cheap, the case is stitched together very nicely and the extra two styluses might come in handy if one decides to go AWOL. However, it wouldn't be a review if I didn't find some bad things about it. The case is purely for transportation. You can't play the DSi once it's inside and there are no holes in the cover to allow you to plug in your DSi charger. Also it's disappointing that the case itself doesn't hold any DS Carts and you're left to use the DS Cart Wallet for any extra games you want to take with you. Hopefully the wallet won't break as it's just plastic. I guess the wallet is a good thing as it keeps the Slip-on Cover very sleek and smooth

So there you have it, POWER A's officially Licensed by Nintendo slip on case. You can pick yours up from JB-Hifi for $27 - steep indeed, but it's cheaper than repairing a damaged DSi - and I recommend it for anyone who is a fan of slip on cases and who doesn't want the feeling of chalkboard robbed by a Console Glove.

Hello, Dexter Morgan!
It looks nice, but I don't see the point in a case for the DSi when it's not in use :P I guess I'm just more careful where I store it and how I transport it. I also do have the silicon cover, which helps.

I have a soft padded cover for my phat. I use it all the time, mostly for transport as nspa says, but also for storage. I don't have to worry about it getting scratched or broken when I put it into my backpack or on the floor in my car, or just in a drawer somewhere if I'm not using it for a while.
