Hello, Dexter Morgan!
[xtable]So we’ve all had a few weeks with our new DSi and we’re slowly starting to discover its annoying little niggles that we all wish could be fixed. Here’s what I’ve found that hopefully Nintendo will address in the future with firmware updates:
  • Wireless Communications: There's the option to turn it on/off in the settings menu. The irritating thing is that if you have this set off and attempt to do anything that involves Wi-Fi you’ll be promptly told that Wireless Communications is turned off and to bugger off and turn it on. There’s no quick and easy option to turn it on for one time use there and then, resulting in you having to go all the way to the settings just to turn it on. Minor annoyance, but something that should be easily fixed with a quick prompt to turn it on when needed.

  • System Update: When you attempt a System Update, you’ll be told that there is a new version available for download regardless of whether you have the latest version or not. The DSi doesn’t seem to actually know until it attempts to download the firmware. This is pretty sloppy on Nintendo’s part. It wouldn’t be hard to change the firmware download system so the DSi can compare its current firmware with the one available online and tell if it’s the same or not.

  • Music Playback: I fully understand that Nintendo aren’t marketing the DSi as the next Ipod. That’s all fine with me. The issue is that the DSi is actually quite useful as a music playback device; it just falls short in a few areas. I’ve got some CDs in AAC format on my memory card (using Itunes to convert CD to AAC @ 320Kbs), they sound great and I quite enjoy the interactivity you can have with the music. But what I really want to see is the option to have the Left and Right Trigger buttons act as Fast Forward/Next Track buttons for music playing while the DSi is closed. Sure it’s fun using them for little sound effects, but it gets old fast, and that’s when you really start craving that they left them just for music control.
This is just some of the niggles that bother me and all that I've found so far. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to write about as I spend more and more time with my DSi.[/xtable]Have you got any niggles with the DSi that you think should be mentioned? Let us know in the comments!

I won't use the music play back regardless it would just be a 'wow this is cool' feature for 10 seconds- unless its included in games and even then if its not in heaps I won't bother.

What I decently want improved is to make it so you can use the old games with the WPA- from my understanding you can not. This is stupid and needs to be changed/improved. If they can't because of the current set up I don't think it would be that hard to make the games think its a WEP setting :/ or make it so it over-rides to the firmwares wifi information :/

The always on wifi is driving me nuts, the battery gets chewed through like no tomorrow. I think they are trying to copy the Wii always on wifi, but you can't when something relies on a battery.
