Umbrella... Seeking Government Bailout
[xtable]In what appears to be the most belated April Fools day joke, 3D Realms, creators of Prey and the Duke Nukem series, have shut down effective immediately due to Take-Two cutting funding for the elusive Duke Nukem Forever project. Is this the end of our blonde haired, one-liner hero that graced our archaic SVGA screens in 1996, or will he live to kick ass and chew bubble gum another day? Read On...[/xtable] Edited by Ingram, Sunday May 10 2009, 06:39 AM.

Umbrella... Seeking Government Bailout
[anchor]more[/anchor]According to Shacknews and Kotaku, Texas based 3D Realms has shut its doors down and it's no publicity stunt. Forums belonging to the company have all been locked and the web's abuzz with rumors that this could spell the end of Duke Nukem Forever and the PSP, DS trilogy being developed by Frontline Games - the games associated with this teaser that seems to fit very nicely with 3D-Realm's progress on DNF (Duke Nukem Handheld Trilogy Teaser) Well fear not fans of Duke, the trilogy will still see the light of day, however Duke Nukem Forever is a different Story. Take-Two, the publisher stuck with footing the bill for elusive DNF, has decided to cut funding. Take-Two VP of Communications Alan Lewis in a prepared statement revealed that their publishing arrangement "did not include ongoing funds for development of the title" (Source: Shacknews). Lewis also added that "Take-Two continues to retain the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever" So that's it ladies and gentlemen, the continuation of DNF's 12 year development cycle is in the hands of Take-Two. Whether they will hand the development reigns to another company or send it off floating on an ice barge, we can all take solace in the fact that DNF and the soiree of jokes associated with it will finally end very soon. Hopefully Take-Two will have an official statement about DNF as George Broussard's Twitter revealed earlier this year that "Game developers often say 'Cutting is shipping'. We begin this year with a vengeance and a chainsaw."
